WHO AM I?
My name is Larisa Dariela Botello Cantu. I was born on January 16, 1996 in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico. I was just 4 years old when my parents decided to move to South Texas to pursue the American Dream! The Rio Grande Valley soon became our home and I began my education journey at La Joya Independent School District.
EDUCATION
I had an interesting trajectory throughout my education. The La Joya ISD had to continuously build new schools with the increase of students in their facilities. Interestingly, I had the opportunity to inaugurate many of the new schools. Let me explain…
Elementary School - 2007
When I was in 5th grade, I was rezoned to a brand new elementary school called “Americo Paredes Elementary”.
Middle School - 2010
When I was in 8th grade, I was rezoned to a brand new middle school called “J.D. Salinas Middle School”.
Freshman in High School - 2011
When I was in 9th grade, a brand new building was built for the school I was attending called “Juarez Lincoln High School”.
Senior in High School - 2014
Half way through my freshman year in High School, I decided to apply to a future Early College which at the time was still an academy called “College Transition Academy”. I had the opportunity of becoming the 1st graduating generation from “Jimmy Carter Early College High School”.
Junior in College - 2015
Then I continued my education at my local University which was called “The University of Texas Pan-American”. The University soon grew and joined the University of Texas at Brownsville which then became one University called “The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley”.
ABOUT ME
I shared my peculiar trajectory to warn you and others that wherever I go I flourish and also those around me. I believe the grace (what you might call luck) I’ve had wherever I’ve been will continue to impact wherever I am next! My parents’ full support and God’s grace is what has gotten me to where I am today. My father always worked hard to support our family financially while my mother worked hard from home to ensure she was always there next to us for when we needed her. I am currently in San Francisco, California seeking a job opportunity where I may gain professional experience towards career advancement.
